About Emma

Emma Cracknell is an award-winning children's illustrator based in Rosevale, Scenic Rim, Queensland. A self-taught artist, she combines traditional media (like pencil, watercolour, and gouache) with digital tools such as Photoshop and Procreate. Emma is also a Library Officer and a mum of two.

 

Her debut picture book, "Is this your egg?" (written by Ella Kris), was part of the 2020 First 5 Forever Stories for Little Queenslanders series and won the Speech Pathology Australia - Book of the Year 2021 in its category. Her second picture book, "Wombat & Joey Roo" (written by Robert Vescio), was published by Wild Eyed Press in 2021.

 

Passionate and always experimenting, Emma also explores pottery, model painting,  fine and digital arts. Living on a working farm with her family, she draws inspiration from the natural landscape and wildlife around her.
